Do not use takt time alone to set a safe manual work pace. Validate staffing, ergonomics, machine limits, quality controls, and required recovery allowances.

What is the takt time formula?

Takt time equals net available production time divided by customer demand for the same period.

Is takt time the same as cycle time?

No. Takt time is the pace demand requires; cycle time is how long the process actually takes per unit.

Should breaks be included?

Subtract planned time when production is not expected to run. Apply the convention consistently across comparisons.
